Expertise
Allen Moore is a multidisciplinary artist and researcher exploring Black radical thought, sonic experimentation, and collective grieving through visual media, sound installation, and performance-based research practices. His practice centers around repetition and experimentation to examine and process his own grief, resilience, and identity. Moore’s work is inspired by the interplay between presence and absence, reminiscent of the nostalgia and melancholy that resonates from familiar childhood comics, icons, and pop figures. Moore’s glow-in-the-dark forms emerge from quantum excitations, suspending ancestral figures in time, dimming and decaying like ghosts into negative space. This dynamic exploration creates visual narratives that challenge viewers to consider the fleeting yet persistent echoes of Black existence. His mission is to expand the agency of the Black imagination and highlight the significance of Afrofuturistic narratives in contemporary art.
