Research Interests
Jonathan Michael Castillo is visual artist with a background in photography, public art and socially engaged projects. Some themes in his work include culture, immigration and student loan debt.
Castillo's work is focused on people, place and social issues. Using anthropological, typological, documentary and socially engaged formats/practices his work is grounded in a genuine interest in people, the places they find themselves and the larger social issues that affect individuals and populations. Portraiture and architectural interiors feature prominently in his projects and are foundational components for a visual conversation about people creating community for themselves, their families and existing within a greater social fabric.
