Forensicc Psychology, Minor
The Forensic Psychology minor offers students an interdisciplinary understanding of how psychology intersects with the legal and criminal justice systems. Students explore the psychological principles underlying criminal behavior, legal decision-making and the assessment and treatment of individuals within the justice system. Courses draw from both psychology and criminology to provide a well-rounded perspective on topics such as eyewitness testimony, mental illness and crime, risk assessment and the psychological evaluation of offenders.
This minor is ideal for students pursuing careers in psychology, criminal justice, law, social work or public policy. It equips students with analytical and research skills while fostering critical thinking about complex ethical and legal issues. With a strong emphasis on social justice, the minor encourages students to examine how systemic inequities influence legal outcomes and to consider how psychological science can contribute to a more equitable justice system. Whether planning for graduate study or entering the workforce, students will gain valuable insights into how psychological science informs justice and public safety.
