Neuroscience, minor

The Neuroscience minor provides students with a multidisciplinary understanding of the brain and nervous system, and integrating knowledge from psychology, biology, and chemistry to explore the neural basis of behavior, cognition and emotion. This program covers foundational topics such as neuroanatomy, neural development, neurophysiology and the molecular mechanisms underlying social behavior, mental health, and neurological function and disorders. Students gain insights into how brain functions relate to learning, memory and perception, as well as the effects of injury and disease. Ideal for students pursuing careers in medicine, psychology or research, the minor fosters critical thinking skills and prepares students for advanced study in neuroscience.

This interdisciplinary minor offers students an excellent opportunity to find more depth of study in neuroscience than is currently available in either psychology alone or biology alone. This program of study will enable students to gain an integrated and organized learning experience across different disciplines. Students interested in pursuing medical studies, advanced degrees in psychology and biology would benefit.
