In the spring of 1984, a young Speech and Performing Arts major anxiously walked into the cramped and cluttered Spanish Dance Theater office to apply for a student aide position. “Hi, my name is George,” he said, introducing himself to Dame Libby Komaiko, the company’s founder and artistic director.

Following a charge from Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to improve the city’s neighborhood public schools, ����Թ� quickly became a resource for nearby Amundsen High School. As the new principal of Amundsen, Ana Pavichevich brainstormed ideas to help turn her school around. She quickly recalled the quality faculty and graduates of Northeastern’s College of Education and approached the University for assistance.

Margo Odiko-Pim graduated in December 2017, but her work with ����Թ� did not end there.

Donald “Don” Heggemann, who served as the office administrator for the Department of Art + Design, died on Oct. 23, 2023.
